Singaporean billionaire Peter Lim decides to buy Cristiano Ronaldo’s pictures — all of it

Today you’ll learn that if you’ve got enough money, you can actually purchase the rights to someone’s pictures for couple of years.

Local billionaire Peter Lim loves football icon Cristiano Ronaldo so much that his company Mint Media managed to acquire his image rights, Channel NewsAsia reports. They locked in a deal that ensures that they own all of his image rights for the next six years — except for those related to his club Real Madrid.

That would mean that the Hong Kong-based company retains the proprietary rights over Ronaldo’s image, and that means no one else is allowed to take his picture without permission.

Lim claims that the partnership with Ronaldo will “provide further growth and exposure” for his brand in Asia — as if the football star isn’t already popular in this region of the world.

The question remains if Cristiano Ronaldo will even hold his own rights to his own image — it’d be really awkward if he has to pay Mint Media every time he takes a selfie for Instagram.
