A 37-year-old Singaporean and former Indian national is suspected to have travelled to Syria to join the ongoing armed conflict there.

Haja Fakkurudeen Usman Ali had already left Singapore, believed to be since November last year, when a member of the public reported him.

The former manager of a local supermarket has not been back since.

The authorities have already deported and banned a Gul Mohamed Maracachi Maraicar, believed to have aided Haja in his radicalisation efforts.

Gul was investigated under the Internal Security Act.
