There’s no better way to celebrate the Golden Jubilee than bagging world titles like a champ.
TripAdvisor announced the results of its Travellers’ Choice awards on Wednesday, with local attractions Singapore Zoo and Universal Studios Singapore topping their respective fields in Asia.
Not only did the Singapore Zoo come in ahead of the zoos in Thailand and China, but it also claimed the third spot in global rankings, losing out only to San Diego Zoo and Spain’s Loro Parque, Channel NewsAsia reports.
“As Singapore marks its 50th anniversary of independence in 2015, Singapore Zoo is proud to contribute towards highlighting the nation on the world travel map,” said Dr Cheng Wen-Haur, Chief Life Sciences Officer at Wildlife Reserves Singapore, in statement. Being recognised as top zoo in Asia and top three in the world is a “great honour” and a “nod to our work in wildlife conservation, education and recreation”, he added.
Other Singaporean attractions that made the list included Universal Studios Singapore, which was ranked the top amusement park in Asia ahead of Ocean Park and Hong Kong Disneyland – both in Hong Kong, while the S.E.A. Aquarium ranked second for aquariums in Asia. Adventure Cove Waterpark placed ninth among the region’s water parks, ahead of Wild Wild Wet in 10th, according to the travel website.
“We are honoured to be recognised once again by TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice 2015 for the strong appeal of our attractions to the travellers around the world,” said Mr Jason Horkin, Vice President of Attractions at Resorts World Sentosa, in the prepared statement.
The awards are based on millions of reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor users globally, and an algorithm is used to determine the winners by taking into account the quantity and quality of reviews gathered over a 12-month period.
Better go check these attractions out before the admission prices are jacked up.
