Beating the high-tech nations of Japan, South Korea and longtime chart-toppers Hong Kong, Singaporeans can now proudly boast having the fastest broadband speed in the whole world.
Based on the millions of test results from Ookla Speedtest, the Household Download Index compares and ranks consumer download speeds around the globe, and Singapore currently claims the top spot with 105.4 megabytes per second.
In comparison, runners-up Hong Kong holds 96.71Mbps while South Korea and Japan trail close behind with 87.73Mbps and 67.83Mbps respectively. Countries such as the United States (33.05Mbps) and United Kingdom (29.48Mbps) rank much lower in the list at #26 and #30. Gambians possess the slowest internet speeds at 1.24Mbps.
Surprisingly, the fastest internet service providers (ISP) here aren’t Starhub, Singtel or M1 — the top ISP spot belongs to ViewQwest Fibernet, whose customers enjoy a blazing 382.93Mbps broadband speed. So now you know which service to apply for.
