The latest FIFA world rankings should get Singapore football fans in a tizzy — the little red dot has landed on the 150th spot worldwide, beating regional countries such as Indonesia (#164), Malaysia (#168) and Hong Kong (#154).
It’s a far cry from the position held back in 2009, where Singapore stumbled into 163rd place. After pummeling Cambodia in a 4-0 victory and fending off Japan in a spectacular draw, the Lions have moved up four spots to its highest position in about two years, according to The Straits Times.
Other big changes include Germany toppling off first place, with Argentina now taking over the cosy spot as the top country in the FIFA world ranking. Other unexpected countries in the top 10 list include the likes of Belgium (#3), Romania (#8) and even Wales (#10).
