Singapore Sports Hub trumps all in World Architecture Fest

The newly relaunched Singapore Sports Hub was awarded the top spot in the under the “Sport – Completed Buildings” category, at the recent World Architecture Festival.

The 35-ha complex, equivalent to 70 football fields, completed in full this year after construction began on the original site of the old National Stadium in 2011.

The other contenders in the category were Hong Kong’s Hon Velodrome, Angola’s Luanda Multisport Pavilion, Taiwan’s NTFSH Gymnasium, Malaysia’s The Concrete Cloud, Bayan Club, and US’ WMS Boathouse at Clark Park.

Judges praised the Sports Hub for being “designed with sustainability and legacy in mind”.

“Singapore Sports Hub will provide rich and meaningful experiences to inspire athletes, visitors and local community for generations to come.”
