Singaporean animal advocates have put out a bounty on whoever abandoned a sick dog at a Jurong West housing estate.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or SPCA, offered a cash reward yesterday for help finding the responsible party online, saying the animal was discovered ill inside a yellow bag. The bag was left Monday at a void deck beside a coffee shop of Block 815 Jurong West Street 81.

“The circumstances in which the dog was found point to an act of abandonment. The SPCA is seeking the identity of the person(s) who left the dog at the above location, to assist with our investigations,” its Facebook post read.

The SPCA said it would reward S$1,000 (about US$737) to anyone with information that could lead to an arrest or prosecution. The dog has multiple health issues and is currently undergoing medical assessment,” it added.

Photos show the sickly looking brown dog and the high-end fashion brand bag it was found inside.

SPCA’s post has been shared more than 1,000 times, attracting comments from people condemning the act.

“This person is very wicked, doing this to a doggie who trust [sic] you completely,” Facebook user Nancy Tan wrote.

“Omg what??? In a paper bag?? Can afford Fendi cannot afford to take care of ur dog??” wrote another user known as Angeline Tan.
