You’ve probably already watched the video of strangers kissing that went viral via Huffington Post.
But did you know that on the same day, the US news blog gave a shout-out to Singapore short film Gift directed by Daniel Yam? And for damn good reason, too.
The post opened with, “it shouldn’t take a seven-minute video to make us appreciate what our parents do for us, but we’ve found one anyway”, but the story is a lot more than that.
The concepts of charity, gratitude, regret and selflessness surround the story of a young boy who never thought his dad was anything to boast about growing up.
But when he finally returns to his roots, he discovers reality is the exact opposite of what he knows.
The blog post now has close to 7,000 Facebook shares — congratulations, Daniel Yam. You might’ve given a lot of people that bit of rain they’ve been craving.

Update: Back to that kissing video — sorry to burst your bubble but it was for an advertisement for clothes
