Singapore will be hosting the South East Asia Floorball Championship in 2014, with countries like Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines already keen on participating.
Floorball, which was first introduced in Singapore in 1996, will get an even further boost in recognition as Singapore prepares to also host the World University Floorball Championship.
According to the president of the Singapore Floorball Association Sani Mohd Salim, the South East Asia Floorball Championship is an open door for countries that wish to compete, but are not yet of World Cup standards.
At this point, floorball is only a demonstration sport at the upcoming SEA Games to be hosted in Myanmar — Sani is urging other countries to make the sport known by their National Olympic Councils so that it may one day be recognised as a competitive sport in the Games.
