The police are investigating two trespassers who went berserk after a football match.

Videos of the two men, who ran onto the pitch after Friday’s English Premier League match between Liverpool and Crystal Palace, have been circulating over the weekend. Police yesterday said the men, 17 and 41, were under investigation for trespassing at the National Stadium.

“Two men, aged 17 and 41, will be assisting in investigations for the offence of wilful trespass under Section 21(1) of the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act 1906,” the police said.

Videos showed the two men in Liverpool jerseys dash and jump through barricades and onto the field to get close to the Liverpool team as they walked around the stadium to celebrate their 2-0 victory. Security gave chase and eventually tackled both of them.

Another video showed security grabbing them in the arms and escorting them out of the venue.

The Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022 match saw over 50,000 spectators.

Several fans did the same in a 2019 match between Brazil and Senegal, and another between Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur where football star Cristiano Ronaldo played.

If found guilty, the men could be fined up to S$1,000.
