Our Singapore passport is a strong one, and it’s been proven time and again when we make it onto the top few spots of lists like the Henley & Partners Visa Restrictions Index. This year, we’ve been ranked joint-fourth in travel freedom on said global index, our highest since settling at fifth place for the last three years in a row — Singapore passport holders can travel to 173 countries or territories without a visa.

Produced in collaboration with the International Air Transport Association, the rankings grade countries according to the number of other countries or territories their citizens can travel to without having to present a visa.

Germany maintained its top position for the fourth consecutive year, with its citizens having the ability to travel to 177 countries or territories without a visa. Sweden came in second, and third place saw a tie between Denmark, Finland, Italy, Spain and the United States. As for Singapore, we shared the fourth spot with Austria, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway and the United Kingdom.

In other parts of Asia, Malaysia took 13th place, while Thailand came in at 67th and the Philippines ranked 75th. Afghanistan was positioned at the bottom in 104th place, with visa-free access to 24 countries or territories.
