Singapore one of world’s top 20 startup ecosystems

The Startup Ecosystem Report 2012, a study based on data from over 50,000 mostly early-stage startups, has churned out a list of the world’s top 20 startup ecosystems and Singapore is the only Southeast Asian country on it.

Top of the list is Silicon Valley, followed by Israel’s second biggest country Tel Aviv. Los Angeles, Seattle, London, New York City, Moscow and Sydney are also on it.

The report conducted by the Startup Genome and Telefónica Digital bases its ranking on eight input factors: differentiation, funding, mindset, performance, startup output, support, talent, trendsetting, and names less than favorable financing brought about by a high level of risk-aversion and low tolerance for failure as Singapore’s greatest room for improvement.
