Singapore man holding woman hostage at knifepoint in Yishun arrested (Videos)

A 42-year-old man was arrested this morning for taking a 60-year-old woman hostage at knifepoint in bad rep Yishun.

The armed man was disarmed by at least five police officers just outside a coffeeshop at Yishun Ring Road at around 7:30am today. 

The woman, who police investigations found they were strangers, suffered minor injuries but declined to be taken to the hospital.

Videos circulating online showed the man with both hands around the masked woman’s neck being surrounded by police officers who were trying to disarm the situation. The woman, who had an umbrella with her, appeared to look calm.

Another video showed him being pinned down by a group of officers.

A knife had been seized by the police. Police investigations are ongoing.
