An unfortunate event happened yesterday involving a traffic police officer and a 58-year-old man.

The Singapore Police Force said they were alerted to the incident at the junction of Hougang Avenue 3 and Kim Chuan Road at around 5:30pm. The pedestrian was hit by the 31-year-old officer on his motorcycle and later died in the hospital.

Photos posted on a Telegram group reporting traffic news showed the pedestrian lying on his back on a grass patch at the road divider and another showed the traffic officer lying against the curb with a police motorcycle not too far away.

Blood can also be seen on the pedestrian’s leg.

Two ambulances were dispatched and both of them were sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force. The officer was conscious when taken to the hospital.

Investigations are ongoing.

Comments in the Telegram group chat speculated that the pedestrian might have gotten hit while jaywalking across the road.
