Singapore has made it into the Olympic spotlight once again – this time, it’s for an award that food lovers will approve of. Our national culinary team was crowned overall champion of the Culinary Olympics 2016 in Erfurt, Germany last night, after being the only Asian country to clinch double golds for the Cold Display and Hot Cooking categories.
Held every four years, the culinary competition is one of the most prestigious in the world. This edition brought together 30 of the world’s top national teams, and it’s the first time the Singapore team has won the championship.
Led by Louis Tay, the executive chef at Swissotel Merchant Court, the national team consists of captain Teo Yeow Siang of Lavish Catering, Triston Fang of Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora, Alan Wong of Lavish Catering, Roy Lim of Unilever Food Solutions and pastry chef Alex Chong from Regent Hotel.
Congrats to the team!
