The furriest Singaporeans continue to deal with doggone inhumanity.

In the latest episode of animal mistreatment, a petrified brown poodle in for a trim was given the rough treatment by groomers at The Fur Room in Serangoon in footage making waves since last night. Its groomer appeared to repeatedly yank the dog’s tail, shake its head by the neck and let it fall off the table. Another went at it with a comb in a way that can only be described as “ouch.”

Shopowner Victoria today apologized to the poodle, a regular, and its owner, saying it was treated that way for not cooperating.

“I would like to apologise to A’s owner and A for how we have treated A. A has been our regular customer and while it has been challenging to groom him due to his hyper-activeness, we took for granted this familiarity with A and was rougher with him during this particular grooming session as he wasn’t cooperating with us,” she wrote.

She added that they were “unprofessional” and should have saved the poodle from falling off the table claiming that the events showed were a “one-off negligence.”

They are also cooperating with the Animal Veterinary Services on investigations.

According to Wake Up, Singapore, the video was filmed Saturday evening by the owner of another dog which appears in the video. When confronted, a staffer, possibly the owner, said: “You’re not [a] dog groomer, you don’t understand one,” according to the post.

People have called for a boycott of the shop, which had many five-star reviews on Google prior to the video’s release.

“We often judge base on good reviews on their social sites but not knowing what’s behind the scene. It Breaks my heart to see such rough handling on the poor poodle. Won’t patronise them anymore!” Lisi.pezzy wrote.

“Wtf is wrong with them?!?! If [they’re] like this, then [don’t] open up a pet grooming business,” Optimushwang_zzzn9 wrote.

It is the latest in a series of Singaporean pet enterprises called out for mistreating animals in their care.
