MHA revisits alcohol ban in Singapore, citizens’ input needed

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) wants to implement permanent no-alcohol zones and shorter liquor sale periods in Singapore.

This is in response to growing concerns on public safety, especially in congregational areas like Robertson Quay where people are prone to binge-drinking.

The government is also suggesting that the alcohol ban and shortening of liquor sale hours at retail outlets extend to selected common areas within all neighbourhoods.

Together with government feedback unit REACH, the MHA welcomes input from the public starting today through Nov. 31.
