Singapore will be welcoming our first Filipino construction workers — 15 of them, to be exact — in March.
The workers from the Philippines will join those from Sri Lanka to help Singapore cope with the increasing demands of the construction sector.
According to Channel NewsAsia, they’re certified with the necessary skills at the new Overseas Testing Centre (OTC) operated by Santarli Construction in Manila, Singapore’s latest OTC and the first to be set up there.
This, as well as their strong command of the English language and ability to adapt, make them attractive to employers in the city-state.
Filipino construction workers in Singapore will be paid about $800 a month.
