Another day, another international award. The 2014 International Garden Tourism — Achievement of the Year Award was conferred to the Singapore Garden Festival which recently concluded earlier in August.
Edging out other gardens and festivals including Sweden’s City of Malmo, Dubai’s Miracle Garden and the United Kingdom’s West Dean College & Garden, Singapore’s own horticultural gala became the first one in Asia to clinch the prestigious award.
The award recognises organisations and individuals who have distinguished themselves in developing and promoting garden experiences as a tourism attractions as part of the biennial Garden Tourism Conference. Singapore Garden Festival saw 300,000 visitors over its duration, and the move from an indoor venue to taking up the whole Gardens by the Bay was one of the key clinchers for the award.
The Singapore Garden Festival will return in 2016, and has taken permanent root at Gardens by the Bay.
