A cyclist and a driver got into an accident yesterday morning.

Dashcam footage that circulated online today showed a cyclist getting hit by a car in the middle of a road while the latter was going at high speed at around 7am. The impact shattered the car’s windshield and threw the man off of his bicycle and onto the asphalt.

“This cyclist must be charged for endangering own life,” one of the social media reactions said. It is not clear where the incident took place.

The 16-second video opens with the cyclist already dashing across the car and running the red light only to be hit. After landing on the road, the cyclist was filmed sitting there as if to regain his composure. A woman was heard screaming in the background of the video.

Many viewers who reacted to it had blamed the cyclist for allegedly not following traffic rules.

“This is exactly what will [happen] if you cycle on the roads and [fail] to follow traffic regulations. Now [the] car driver will be in trouble, [the] cyclist will be in pain and everyone will be in shock,” a Facebook user known as Bear wrote.
