Singapore’s got it good when it comes to travel. Not only does the island nation have the world’s best airport and one of the most powerful passports on the globe, it’s also home to the top airline on the planet — at least according to TripAdvisor. Pretty impressive for a city-state that’s just a blip on the map.
Announcing its 2019 Travelers’ Choice Awards yesterday, TripAdvisor named Singapore Airlines the best in the world. That’s a win for Singapore’s national carrier for the second year in a row, on a list that’s only in its third edition.
Dominating the top ten were Asian and Middle Eastern airlines, with Qatar Airways as runner-up and Eva Air coming in third. Emirates took fourth spot, followed by Japan Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Azul, Air New Zealand, Jet2.com, and ANA (All Nippon Airways).
Singapore Airlines also nabbed the award for Best Economy, while Emirates took Best First Class, Qatar Airways was named Best Business Class, and Air New Zealand had the Best Premium Economy.
As always, the winners were ranked using an algorithm that scrutinized the quantity and quality of airline reviews and ratings from travelers around the world over a 12-month period on TripAdvisor Flights.
