Jeez, we knew the situation with SMRT’s testing of its signalling system was gonna be bad, but not this bad.
SMRT announced some news that we didn’t want to hear at the end of the workday — a signalling fault has halted train services on both the East-West Line (EWL) and the North-South Line (NSL).
Around 5:22pm, the transport operators informed commuters that there won’t be any EWL trains running from Joo Koon to Tuas Link MRT stations in both directions, but at least things were okay on the NSL, even though it’s an additional half an hour (!!) in traveling time.
But then, things got worse. To fix the signalling issue on the NSL, SMRT halted all train services on the red line for about half an hour. Free bus services were kicked off along the entire NSL network, as well as between Joo Koon and Tuas Link stations.
[NSL]: Due to a signalling fault, there are no train services along #NSL. Free regular bus services are available along #NSL.

SMRT assured that train services were being restored “progressively” and should return to normal soon enough. Still, expect an additional 15 minutes travel time.
Around 5:56PM, SMRT had fixed the issues on EWL, and train service resumed between Joo Koon and Tuas Link stations. Heap an additional half an hour to train services on the NSL, then.
[NSL] UPDATE: Train services on the #NSL will be delay for 30 mins. Free regular bus services are still available on the #NSL.

Feel free to take the free shuttle service, but you can bet yo’ ass that it’s crowded as hell at the MRT station bus stops. Oh well. Just another day.
