The only time excess baggage is a good thing, thanks SIA

From Nov. 15 onwards, travellers can look forward to a free 10kg increase in baggage allowance across all class levels on all Singapore Airlines at SilkAir flights.

This means that in total, passengers in Suites and First Class can enjoy 50k worth of baggage, Business 40kg and Economy 30kg.

For flights to and from the United States, where a per-piece allowance applies, two pieces of luggage are allowed to be checked in at a maximum of 32kg each, an increase from 23kg. This only applies to travellers of Suites, First Class and Business Class.

Members of KrisFlyer Elite Gold and Star Alliance Gold will continue to enjoy the privilege of an extra 20kg of baggage allowance on all classes, or one extra piece of checked-in baggage when travelling to or from the United States and Brazil.

According to Chin Yau Seng, SIA senior vice president for sales and marketing, the implementations were made in response to customers’ feedback and also serve to reaffirm the commitment SIA has towards enhancing customer service on a constant basis.
