A Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight was forced to make an emergency landing at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Sunday afternoon after receiving a cargo fire warning message. Malaysian news agency Bernama reported that flight SQ425 had departed Mumbai at 8.44am and was expected to arrive in Singapore at 4.44pm. However, it made an emergency at KLIA at 4.05pm, a Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) spokesman told Bernama.
The warning was sounded towards the end of its flight from Mumbai, India, just 20 minutes before descent into Singapore, a SIA spokesperson told The Straits Times.Thankfully, the aircraft landed safely and thorough investigations were carried out on the ground, but no signs of fire were found. A check on SIA’s flight status page later said the flight had arrived in Singapore at 8.43pm, about four hours after the estimated time of arrival.
