According to this year’s Skytrax survey of millions of airline passengers, Singapore Airlines has come out tops as the best airline in Asia. Unfortunately, its global ranking fell to third place, one spot below last year’s. Emirates topped the list of world’s 10 best airlines in 2016, followed by Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and ANA All Nippon Airways. Rounding out the bottom five are Etihad Airways, Turkish Airlines, EVA Air, Qantas Airways and Lufthansa.
Last year, Qatar was first, with SIA and Cathay Pacific coming in second and third. Emirates was at fifth place.
Nonetheless, SIA received plenty of recognition in the sub-categories. The award for best economy class airline went to Asiana Airlines, followed by Qatar and SIA; and the title of best business class airline was bestowed upon Qatar, followed by SIA and Etihad Airways. SIA also took third place for best cabin crew.
