As per usual in response to life-risking events in other countries, Singapore Airlines (SIA) has offered to waive re-booking fees for their customers who are holding flight tickets to and fro Jakarta.
This comes after the deadly attacks in Central Jakarta yesterday, where several bombings and gunfights rocked the city in an Islamic State terror plot.
According to SIA, the waiver is only valid for tickets issued on or before Jan 14, 2016 for travel to or from Jakarta up to Jan 20, 2016. Rebooking should commence by the end of this month.
As security measures have been stepped up since the attacks, SIA also urged travellers to arrive early at airports to get through the checkpoints in time for flights.
Budget airline Tigerair has also offered to waive fees for re-booking or re-routing flights to and for Jakarta. Similarly, the waiver is valid for travel to and from the city up to Jan 20, and rebooking has to commence by Jan 31.
