SIA among the world’s safest airlines, but Qantas takes the top crown yet again

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has gained yet another accolade — this time for being considered as one of the world’s safest airlines according to AirlineRatings.com

The website’s rating system takes into account factors such as government audits, operational history, fatality record and more to rank the airlines. 

Once again, Australia’s Qantas is crowned the safest way to fly, just like they were for the past two years. “…over its  its 95-year history the world’s oldest continuously operating airline has amassed an extraordinary record of firsts in operations and safety and is now accepted as the industry’s most experienced carrier,” they wrote.

The Australian airline was also noted to be the leader in several monitoring systems that enable them to uphold attain maximum safety while navigating and landing. 

Other airlines considered in the top 20 safest in the world include the likes of Air New Zealand, Lufthansa, United Airlines, Emirates, Japan Airlines, KLM and more. 

AirlineRatings.com however did note that 2015 had been a “disturbing year for airline safety”, considering high-profile disasters such as the GermanWings and Metrojet incidents.
