Shirtless buffoon tosses obike into canal, goes for a joyride on ofo bike in Punggol MRT

Just when you thought bike abusers have been made an example of, the misuse just gets worse.

Just a few days following the story where an ofo bike was thrown off the 30th storey, a Snapchat video was sent to Stomp showing a shirtless young bloke going on a rampage on public bikes. The sequence of events is unclear, but they apparently transpired on last Thursday night, according to The Straits Times.

In three separate clips, it starts off with a shirtless young man hurling what looks to be a bicycle belonging to obike (note the silver chassis) down a canal. He is then captured riding what looks to be a yellow ofo bicycle in and around the premises of Punggol MRT station, knocking a bin over in the process. He’s then seen riding dangerously in a bus interchange where a bus was moving off nearby.

No public statement has been made by either ofo and obike so far, and it is not known if a police report has been lodged.

The bike-sharing concept that recently started in Singapore has received a wave of bike abuse and vandalism incidents, and service providers have come under flak for not enforcing or educating the public enough about where users should park them and how they should be treated (although for the most part, this is a matter of being a decent human being). We suspect it could be a case of a copycat incident due to the attention a recent case received on social media.
