A supermarket has apologized for an employee mishap after surveillance footage ran down emotions online.

Sheng Siong supermarket told Coconuts today that its staff  immediately apologized and provided help to two customers hit by a trolley that rolled down an escalator.

“Our store personnel had immediately apologised and extended assistance to the two customers. The health and safety of our customers is of utmost importance to us,” it said in a statement.

The incident took place in February at the supermarket’s Canberra outlet at Block 105.

The video showed employees packing boxes onto the trolley which later rolled onto the escalator when the employee left. It ran into a lady who fell to the ground and another at the end of the escalator.

Sheng Siong added that they “will learn from the incident” and “take necessary measures” to make sure it won’t happen again.

Users called the employee “stupid” and made fun of her saying she should have helped the lady instead of passing her and running after the trolley.
