SG to San Fran — Singapore Airlines launching first non-stop flight to the US since 2013

After the June 1 announcement by United Airlines of its non-stop flight between Singapore and San Francisco, Singapore Airlines has accepted the challenge. It will re-start non-stop flights to the US three years after it cancelled the service from Singapore to Los Angeles and New York. Due to launch on October 23, the first destination is, of course, San Francisco.

As of now, the airline operates two daily flights between Singapore and San Francisco, with one making a stopover at Seoul and the other in Hong Kong. Flying time for the new non-stop service will range from 14 hours and 35 minutes to 17 hours and 45 minutes, depending on the direction and the time of year, reducing travel time by about four hours. Expect 253 seats in Business Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class on board SIA’s latest A350-900 aircraft.

The San Francisco route will remain SIA’s longest until 2018, when non-stop flights to New York and Los Angeles will start. Bookings start from June 20.
