A 27-year-old man was left lying in a pool of blood in front of a bus stop near Broadway Hotel in Serangoon yesterday afternoon — a victim of a frightening attack in broad daylight.

A police manhunt was immediately launched for the four men who allegedly slashed the victim with a kitchen knife and a katana at 202 Serangoon Road, TODAY reported. According to the police — who were alerted to the case around 2:20pm — the attackers fled in a rented Nissan car and left behind a kitchen knife and an ATM card at the scene.

The man was conveyed by ambulance to Tan Tock Seng Hospital with serious injuries on the back of his head, arms and legs, The Straits Times reported. Witnesses who spoke to ST noted that the attack took place swiftly, and that there wasn’t any “shouting or noise” during the incident.

In an update earlier this morning, police confirmed that seven Singaporean men have been arrested in relation to the attack. The men, aged between 17 and 28, were arrested in the vicinity of Corporation Road in Jurong and Block 26 Sin Ming Industrial Estate.

Investigations are ongoing.
