Sentosa cable car gives way with engineer on board

Two Sentosa cable cars cabins undergoing test works malfunctioned on Aug. 10, resulting in one of the cabins falling on a construction site along Imbiah Walk, and another suspended in mid-air with an engineer on board.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said upon receiving a call for assistance, they reached the scene within six minutes and safely brought the engineer to Imbiah Station. A SCDF paramedic gave him a thorough checkup and concluded that he didn’t need any medical assistance.

No other casualties were reported.

This line of cable cars is on a different route from the existing one that transports passengers to and fro Mount Faber-Sentosa, which in a statement by Sentosa Development Corporation, is said to be unaffected and still in operation.

Investigations are still underway.
