An SBS Transit bus driver has been suspended after his dangerous maneuver on the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) was caught on video. The driver of route 147e reportedly reversed his vehicle after missing his exit around Lower Delta Road yesterday morning.
The incident was captured by the dashcam of a car that happened to be traveling behind the bus.
The clip, which made its way to the ROADS.sg Facebook page, shows the double-decker bus in the left lane of the expressway with its reverse lights on. Other vehicles can be seen moving past it in the right lane. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
“This is not something we condone and we will be taking disciplinary action against him,” SBS Transit senior vice-president of corporate communications Tammy Tan, told The Straits Times. “We have suspended him from driving duties with immediate effect.”
But many netizens declared the suspension was not severe enough, given the dangerous situation, and called for him to be removed from the roads.
