Sentosa’s a nice tourist trap spot to visit with the family, but heading over to the island can be a pain, since it’s only accessible by monorail, cable car, cars, coaches and (ugh) walking.
From the end of the month onwards, SBS Transit’s bus service 123 will provide a direct connection from mainland Singapore all the way into the resort island — at no additional island admission charge. Commuters entering Sentosa via bus will only have to pay the fare based on the distance they travel.
What this means is that you can ride from Bukit Merah Bus Interchange (where Service 123 begins) to Sentosa. But of course, you don’t have to go all the way to Bukit Merah — commuters can hop on the bus from any of its stops, which include Tiong Bahru, Orchard, Fort Canning and Havelock.
The bus itself will have three stops within Sentosa island: Resorts World Sentosa along Sentosa Gateway, Merlion Plaza along Artillery Avenue, and one more opposite Merlion Plaza.
But the extension of bus services will mean that 123 won’t be going into HarbourFront Bus Interchange, nor will it stop at Vivocity, opposite Vivocity or HarbourFront Station Exit A. Those who want to get to those places can take bus service 123M instead.
Detailed info on the route extension available on LTA’s and SBS Transit’s website.
