Say no more, fam — dude gets charged $118 for an ugly bowl cut, but hair salon fixes it after complaint

Most of the time, we get what we pay good money for. But life isn’t fair sometimes and the end product falls horrendously short of the price tag — especially when it comes to something as finicky as a hair cut.

For a Facebook user who goes by the name of El Syibli, that’s exactly what happened to him when he visited Sante de Beaute hair salon for a $118 (about US$85) haircut-rebond-wash package. And what a disaster it turned out to be for Syibli, who apparently asked for a “high slope” but got a “mangkok” (“bowl” in Malay) cut instead. The hairdresser, presumably as part of their customer service, even cracked a smile in the face of the calamity he caused. No apology was given apparently, which unsurprisingly left the bowl-cut recipient fuming and taking to Facebook to shed light on his life-changing experience. Oh dear.

Netizens chimed in, expressing their sympathies and anger at the way the events unfolded.

Plot twist! Give Sante de Beaute — the hair salon in question — an A* for service recovery, as they offered to fix his hair for free when they found out about the viral Facebook post. Syibli gave an update on his Facebook profile, and was all smiles post-fix. Turns out, his awful hairstyle was done by an understudy (though it didn’t explain why the haircut cost that much though).

“Dear all, do be rest assured Santé is awesome,” he said. “They take care of all customer feedback and is really a fantastic salon to patronise.”
