Yesterday afternoon, the Singapore Armed Forces deployed its fifth task group to join the counter-piracy efforts in the Gulf of Aden.
Led by Colonel Cheong Kwok Chien, the 151 men left on board the Navy’s stealth frigate the RSS Tenacious equipped with a Sikorsky S-70B Seahawk naval helicopter. Together, they will operate under the ambit of the multi-national Combined Task Force 151 to safeguard shipping and the freedom of navigation in the Gulf.
The mission will last three months.
