SAF servicemen to get N95 masks when PSI exceeds 300

We’ve heard about how defence officers can go to great lengths to simulate a battlefield during training, but the haze and the PSI hitting an all-time high? That’s just too real, bro.

And so, the Ministry of Defence will “adjust our outdoor activities and training according to the haze situation,” it announced in a news release.

This means that when PSI is under 100, it’s business as usual.

But once the 24-hour PSI reading exceeds the Very Unhealthy (201-300) range, N95 masks will be issued to Singapore Armed Forces servicemen with essential outdoor duties.

The next category, 301 and beyond, is considered hazardous.

Haze or no haze, though, “the SAF stands ready to safeguard Singapore’s peace and security”.

The SAF has three branches: Singapore Army, Republic of Singapore Air Force and Republic of Singapore Navy.
