It’s been over two years since the last accident at Nee Soon Camp.

Just yesterday morning at approximately 9am, a Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) regular serviceman passed away in the midst of his physical training. In a press statement by Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), it was at 8.05am when he passed out, and immediate attempts to resuscitate him were carried out.

The serviceman was evacuated to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital via an SAF ambulance, while medics continued their efforts to resuscitate him along the way. It later proved futile as he was pronounced dead later at 9.02am.

In closing their statement, MINDEF said: “The Ministry of Defence and the SAF extend their deepest condolences to the family of the late serviceman. The SAF is assisting the family in their time of grief.”

This would be considered the second case in February in which a regular serviceman died in camp. On the morning of Feb 10, 44-year-old Second Warrant Officer Sim Poh Wah lost consciousness in Pasir Laba Camp and was pronounced dead at the hospital later on around 9am.
