SAF goes Call Of Duty in amping up efforts to combat terrorism in Singapore

Amidst a tense climate involving a heightened terror threat around the world, Singapore’s taking a page out of Call of Duty in their efforts to combat terrorism.

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) will be redoubling their efforts to gear up against any imminent plot on Singapore, enhancing their Special Operations Task Force (SOTF) with badass weapons, perks and ability tiers. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, bullpup submachine guns, tactical sensors, tank-y troop transportation — counter-terrorism efforts are getting an extra edge with new tech.

Of course, fighting terrorists ain’t no game IRL. Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen noted that the SOTF must be able to respond even faster when activated, especially after what happened in Paris, Jakarta and Brussels.

More SAF units will be undergoing training to conduct patrols in populous areas, which will be provided in a new urban training facility that comes with high-rise buildings, complex road networks and mock-up transport nodes.

As for SAF’s role in the global fight against terror, they’ve extended their deployment of an Imagery Analysis Team (IAT) in the Middle-East as part of the multi-national coalition effort to combat the Islamic State.

“With Singaporeans strongly behind and with us, the SAF will respond decisively to all those who seek to do us harm and protect this precious island we call home,” Ng concluded.
