Following a review of the pilot security zoning program first established in 2012 to secure sensitive areas and hence minimize inconvenience, the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore Armed Forces) are now allowing selected camera phones into 15 more army camps.

Based on the program, camera phones and in-vehicle cameras are allowed in the designated Green Zones as long as they are not used for unauthorized photography or videography.

The same devices continue to be banned from Red Zones, where classified information and equipment are managed. National servicemen will have to deposit their camera phones in lockers before entering these areas.
