As per usual, Chinatown gets into the Lunar New Year celebrations bright and early with the opening ceremony hitting the district this Saturday, Jan 16.
To facilitate the launch of the Chinatown Chinese New Year Celebration 2016, several roads will be closed off to vehicular traffic from today till Feb 7.

Mosque Street will be converted to a bi-directional road from 2pm to 11pm on Saturday as well.
“Auxiliary Police officers will be deployed at all affected road junctions to regulate traffic and assist motorists,” said the Singapore Police Force statement. “Parking restrictions along the peripheral roads will be strictly enforced.”
Of course, bus services will also be affected during the opening ceremony. Checkkit below:

Even if you’re not celebrating Chinese New Year, it’s a good time to rejoice for an anticipated extra long weekend from Feb 6 to Feb 9. Huzzah!
