Like our neighbours in Bangkok and Jakarta, Singaporeans will soon be able to experience traffic-less periods around the city’s civic district and parts of the central business district when Car-Free Sundays hit town.

Feb 28 will be the first of many Car-Free Sundays, where the roads around the Padang as well as Fullerton Road will be fully closed to vehicles, while Shenton Way and Robinson Road will be partially shut down. All-in-all, it’ll be 4.7km of walking, running, cycling and other activities with your feet around town from 7am to 9am, regardless of rain or shine.

The pilot initiative will see the roads in the Civic District closed to vehicles every last Sunday of the month up till July. Museums will be opened earlier, sports activities will be had, and a breakfast picnic area in front of the Victoria Theatre and Concert hall features local delights such as roti prata, nasi lemak and more.
