RM8.1m shipment of drugs bound for Singapore seized by Malaysian police in Johor Bahru

A huge shipment of drugs might have found its way into Singapore and Indonesia, but thanks to Malaysia’s elite Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group (STING), they were seized even before it was packed up.

The RM8.1 million shipment of drugs were seized from a house in Taman Pelangi, reports New Straits Times, believed to be a mini drug lab of sorts. 58kg of powdered ecstasy, 5,290 ecstasy pills and 1kg of syabu were found.

Also seized were air rifles, air pistols, drug-making equipment and chemical products used to manufacture the drugs, said Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigations Department director Datuk Seri Mokhtar Shariff.

Six men were arrested during the raids in Taman Pelangi, Jalan Sutera, Taman Daya and other locations in Johor Bahru.

“The drugs would have reached around 190,000 drug users if they had not been seized,” said Mokhtar.
