The famous nasi padang stall on Zion Road that started serving the city in 1957 is closing down at the end of this month.
Both the people who run the show — second-generation owner Zulfa Hamid and partner Hariz Pua — have cited tripling rent, high food costs and a lack of manpower as the main reasons for the closure.
The dinner period has been quiet, according to Pua’s statement in a Straits Times report, which reveals River Valley Nasi Padang’s final day of operation to be March 28. For the past few months, the shop has been closing at 7pm instead of the usual 9pm.
