Setting a rather dramatic scene this evening at Marina Bay, passers-by were treated to a rather different sunset at the Singapore River, as they watched a bumboat go up in flames.
With the Esplanade in the backdrop, a river taxi owned by the Singapore River Cruise caught fire, engulfing the whole vessel in an intense blaze. All cruise operations were halted, but fortunately for everyone, nobody was on board the boat at the time of the fire, according to Singapore River Cruise.

Tourists chilling nearby seemed to have a ball of a time though watching it burn.

A witness who spoke to Channel NewsAsia mentioned that a person had jumped off the river taxi after it caught fire, and the man might have been picked up by other boats nearby. Vessels have also helped guide the burning boat towards the bank, where Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers extinguished the blaze.
