Crowds turned up in droves over the weekend to pay their last respects to the late Aloysius Pang, who passed away on Wednesday after succumbing to injuries caused by an accident when a howitzer barrel hit him while he was serving military service in a New Zealand exercise.

The public memorial, which was held at 82A Macpherson Lane, started on Saturday at 12 pm, with fans and friends streaming in to pay their respects.

The queues even went until the dead of night but folks were still eager to join the queue to see Pang for one last time.

Some posted photos and videos of the memorial’s queue using the #aloysiuspang and #rememberingaloysiuspang hashtags on Instagram stories, although we were pleasantly surprised to see many respecting the tone of the event by not taking photos and videos as they got closer to Pang’s body.

Instagram user @justmeliling also prepared a bunch of cards that were made by fans and friends for the late Pang. A really sweet gesture indeed.

Paper cranes were also adorned along the sides of the memorial hall, along with wreaths given in Pang’s name by fans and celebrities.

Celebrities were also spotted at the wake paying their last respects, including actors Rayson Tan, Chen Shucheng, Zoe Tay and Fann Wong, according to 8 Days.

Also in attendance were ministers Lawrence Wong and Tin Pei Ling, as well as members pf Pang’s fan club, Pangsters, in a report by Mothership.

A military funeral will be accorded for Pang and he will be cremated at the Mandai Crematorium on Sunday, said the Ministry of Defence.
