In another depressing case regarding painfully heartless Singaporeans and their disregard towards animal life, non-profit group CATSI came across an old feline discarded like worn out furniture by its former owners.
The incident emerged last week somewhere in the western region of Singapore, where a 19-year-old calico was allegedly left to die by a family at an HDB staircase landing. When confronted, the owner’s callous response was that Deepavali was coming, so they needed to clear the cat away from the house. It’s even more heartbreaking to see the clearly ill cat, all skin and bones lying uncomfortably on some wet newspaper.
Though despondent, the post did go viral enough for a fosterer by the name of Khumaira to take the old cat under her care. More images emerged, showing just how sickly the poor calico was. Financial contributions came in swiftly as well to help pay for the kitty’s vet bills.
An update from a checkup yesterday afternoon revealed an even more depressing prospect. The cat had been suffering from multiple ailments including diarrhoea, a swollen anus, ears filled with black discharge, and feline immunodeficiency virus.
“Her frail malnourished body is an accumulation of long term neglect and unfortunately the people who owned her, has failed to give her a helping hand till her miserable predicament was desperately highlighted to us last night.”
Too tragic.
