Singapore has lost another legend yesterday when Reggie Verghese — lead guitarist of The Quests, one of country’s biggest pop group of the ’60s — passed away from heart failure yesterday at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

His former bandmates and close friends speaking to TODAY noted that he was an incredible and gifted musician, as well as one of the most prominent music figures in ’60s Singapore who helped bring The Quests to nationwide fame.

Noted Singaporean musicians have also been pouring tributes on their Facebook since the news of his death, most of whom have collaborated with him before. Distinguished jazz musician Jeremy Monteiro expressed his shock over the passing of Verghese and recounted the tough love dealt and the eventual friendship that bloomed.

Former vocalist of The Quests Vernon Cornelius also mentioned that Verghese had been unwell for years, suffering from a series of illnesses.
