The Avengers are coming to town — well, not the actual actors who play them, but close enough. Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. exhibition makes its Southeast Asian debut at the Science Centre Singapore, making our edition the most interactive and largest (at more than 2,000 sqm). And no, it’s not just for kids.
All your favourite superheroes will be (sort of) present — including Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Falcon, Ant-Man and Vision — and you get to hop from station to station and learn all about their world, their history and their scientific origins. Original props, costumes, holograms and interactive activities will be scattered throughout the exhibition.
At the Briefing Room, download the Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. mobile training device on your phone (it’s free in the App Store and Android Google Play) for added insights that will come in handy later, then enter the Avengers’ training facility as recruits.
First up, Captain America — also known as the first Avenger. Besides finding out about the Super Soldier program and its resulting physiological enhancements, you’ll get to do cool stuff like try out the Cap’s shield and hop on his bike to ‘continue’ the ride. Then assess your fitness level at the High Performance Test Lab, where you’ll go through a strength, endurance and cognitive reflex evaluation to check if you’re Avengers-worthy.
At Dr Bruce Banner’s Bio-Lab, the Hulk comes to life through an interactive live screen display, and you’ll discover the Super Soldier Serum’s effect on the green creature’s blood.
Then get up close and personal to the uniforms of Black Widow, Hawkeye and Ant-Man at the personnel area, and inspect Loki’s Asgardian robes at the Containment Room.
If you’ve always wondered why the Avengers couldn’t lift the Mjölnir (except for Thor and Vision), attempt it yourself at the Thor Observatory — perhaps you may be the chosen one. Here, you’ll also find Thor’s warrior garments and an interactive exploration of the universe.
Iron Man’s up next — put your flight skills to the test as you step into his augmented reality suit and study his collection of MK 1-7 Suits. Plus, there’s the 3m-tall Hulkbuster that’ll make anyone look tiny by comparison.
Finally, team up with fellow recruits and choose your favourite Avenger to represent in the epic hands-on battle of good versus evil.
Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is on from now till Mar 5, 2017, daily 10am-6pm at Annex Hall, Science Centre Singapore, 15 Science Centre Rd. Adults $25-$30, children aged three to 12 $18-$22. Tickets to this exclude admission to the Science Centre.
