Ready, Get Set, Mask: Singapore pharmacies prepared for the haze

Major pharmacy chains Guardian and NTUC Unity Healthcare are preparing for the impending haze, following a Facebook warning from Environment and Water Resources Minister Vivian Balakrishnan last week.

A spokesperson from Dairyl Farm, which runs Guardian pharmacies, revealed to TODAY that the company is working closely with the authorities to monitor the situation, and is making sure there is a healthy supply of masks should the demand peak.

NTUC Unity Healthcare is also pre-empting the situation, and is prepared to deploy more staff to reduce customer waiting time, as well as extend operating hours for any of their 54 outlets islandwide. The company will also post information on mask availability on their retail website.

Said managing director at NTUC Fairprice Tng Ah Yiam, NTUC already has a sufficient supply of face masks to meet demand should the haze return.
